This is a very exciting idea. Creation of digital content can be very expensive, especially if you do it on a limited basis. Having a publicly accessible platform will enable more people to create unique content. I hope that you will roll this capability out to the branch libraries, and also find some way of showcasing the work that people create using the Lab.
I think this is a great idea! What version of Final Cut Pro are you using? Is it FCP 7 or FCP X?
We’re using Final Cut Pro X.
Will the standard $.15 per page printing fee apply to printing in the DPL?
No, printing in the Digital Projects Lab is going to be different from standard Library printing.
Price to print – $2.00 per page. This is because the printer uses very high quality archival inks.
Paper – we supply regular printer paper in standard sizes (8 1/2×11″, 8 1/2×14″ and 11×17″), and Lab users can bring their own specialty paper.
Please let us know of other questions you may have – we’re working on an FAQ now that will be added to the Digital Projects Lab info page.
What a great idea! I’m so proud to live in a community that boasts a cutting edge library like Arlington’s Digital lab. I’m not being paid to say this! As a student of video production, I’m looking forward to using this service soon.
