Did They Predict the 2014 Caldecott?

This morning (Jan. 27), the 2014 Caldecott Medal was awarded to Brian Floca for “Locomotive.”

But before the official winners were announced, students at Arlington’s Randolph, Long Branch and ATS elementary schools worked hard to pick their own Caldecott Medal winners.

They spent months studying  illustration and picture books under the guidance of their school and public librarians. Then following official Caldecott committee guidelines, they made their selections.

Our kids may not have made the same choices as the official Caldecott Medal committee, but we think they did a great job!
