Fall 2014 Preschool Storytime Schedule

Raise a Reader!

Monday, Sept. 8 – Saturday, Nov. 22. 

Our age appropriate storytimes are designed to help you to help your child learn reading readiness, or Early Literacy.

  • No registration required - attendance is first-come, first-served until seating capacity is reached. Call 703-228-5946 for more information.
  • Reminder - On days when Arlington Public Schools are closed because of bad weather, all Library Kids Events are also cancelled.

Baby Steps (0-12 months)

Baby Steps is a storytime program for babies 0-12 months and an accompanying adult which focuses on songs, nursery rhymes, and various manipulatives to introduce babies to the joys of both language and literature.

 

Wobbly Walkers (13-24 months)

Wobbly Walkers is a storytime program for toddlers from 13-24 months and an accompanying adult which focuses on songs, nursery rhymes, and various manipulatives to introduce toddlers to the joys of both language and literature.

 

Under Twos (0-24 months)

This drop-in program is for children 24 months and under and accompanying adults. Singing, dancing, clapping to nursery rhymes and simple stories will introduce young children to the joys of language and literature. We encourage full and active participation of the accompanying adults.

 

Over Twos (25 months – 5 years)

This drop-in program is for children 25 months and over and accompanying adults. Read-aloud techniques, songs, fingerplays, puppets, and flannel board tales will introduce children to listening skills, picture books, the library, and the joy of reading. We encourage full and active participation of the accompanying adults.

 

Stop in for Stories (0-5 years)

A drop-in storytime program for preschool children of all ages and accompanying adults. This fun and interactive program combines activities such as read-aloud stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays and flannel boards and introduces children to listening skills, picture books, the library, and the joy of reading. We encourage full and active participation of accompanying adults.

 

Cuentos Para Niños (0-5 años)

Un programa en español para todas las edades. Lectura de cuentos, canciones y manualidades. No se requiere registro.

 

Family Storytime

A program for families with children of any age to enjoy together. This fun and interactive program combines activities such as read-aloud stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays and flannel boards and introduces children to listening skills, picture books, the library, and the joy of reading. Families are encouraged to participate together and to borrow related materials to enjoy at home.
