Join us next Thursday, Nov. 4 at 7:00 p.m. for a special Veterans Day program when local veterans will take part in a panel discussion and question-and-answer session about their own experiences at war.
Video of this program will be available from AVN on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
One of our local veterans is WWII Sgt. Frederick Carmichael, who was drafted in 1943 at age 19, and served in the 87th Infantry Division, 347th Infantry Regiment, Company F, as part of Patton’s Third Army in Europe. Carmichael says that after returning from the war he didn’t want to talk about his experiences at all. But years later he and his fellow surviving Company F members decided they should write about the war, and now you can read Carmichael’s own words and memories about WWII on Military.com’s A Veteran’s Story.
