Want more privacy options in your Library account?
With our new catalog and accounts system, you get more security for your account. Here are two examples:
Create a personal username in your online account:
Your username will be your alias on hold slips
- You will log into your account with your username and your PIN (Personal Identification Number)*
- This option creates a bit of extra privacy for your account, which some of our customers have requested.
If you don’t choose a username:
- Your real name will continue to appear on your hold slips
- You will log into your account using your library card number and a PIN (Personal Identification Number)*
*PIN Numbers
As an upgrade in account security, each Library user will create a 4-digit PIN code, as their new account password.
- You’ll set up your PIN the first time you use your account.
- You’ll be able to change your PIN code any time you want
- Library staff won’t know what it is
Specific instructions will be available once the new system is up and running, and staff will be on hand to assist you in getting started.

This sounds great! Thanks for thinking of this issue! I'd even go as far as suggesting that you really nudge people to create usernames (that don't contain their name) when they first use the new system. In this age of Facebook people often don't realize that what you read/post can be used in more ways than you intended.
Thank you for letting us know in advance of the coming changes, UNLIKE when you switched hardware and those of us with 3 1/2 inch discs weren't given any notice and weren't able to transfer the info onto flash drives or to print out. Now I have 4 discs, one purchased as recently as last Oct. from the library, that I am unable to access. Some surprises can be nice but some can be inconvenient! So please – NO MORE SURPRISES.
This is great and all, but because of the system change I wasn't sent a reminder email on my stuff being due, and I was overdue on DVD's. Kinda annoying…
Anonymous on Feb. 14 -We're sorry to hear that you didn't receive your reminder. We have continued to send account reminder emails during every day of this transition, up until this morning at 3am. After today, we will not send email reminders until the new system is up and running. However, no items are due from today until March 1. Unfortunately, we can only guarantee that the reminders go out, not that they have reached your email inbox. Please note that our website states "Failure to receive a reminder notice does not waive the customer's responsibility for the timely return of materials or any fines incurred."
In order to streamline questions and answers, we've moved comments on the new catalog system and transition to the Library Catalog Transition FAQ.
