Because we have to suspend some services this week and next while we install our new catalog and accounts system, holds that currently appear as “in transit” will not be available until the week of Feb. 20.
We apologize for this inconvenience, and look forward to getting back to normal service as soon as possible.
Our computer system isn’t just the catalog, it’s an integrated library system. It combines the public catalog search, patron records and accounts, behind-the-scenes operations including everything from purchasing to holds, 8 physical Library locations and our “online branch.” Transferring all of this information isn’t simple, and it takes time and care on our part.
Stay tuned for catalog transition updates by visiting our homepage, subscribing to our News Blog, or following us on Twitter and Facebook.
Thanks for explaining what "in transit" currently means for items on hold. I was wondering why, over the past several days, several holds in that status on my account were stalled somewhere. This makes sense, and I appreciate knowing I needn't check on these on a daily basis to see when they will be available for check-out.
Anonymous,Thanks for the kind words, and for bearing with us through this transition – we'll be sending you notification about their "on-shelf" status as soon as possible!
In order to streamline questions and answers, we've moved comments on the new catalog system to the Library Catalog Transition FAQ.
