Are you learning to use your Library Account?
Here’s how you can create a List (or several) –
- Search the catalog
- When you find a book or DVD you want to put on a list, click on Add to Cart:
- Scroll to the top of the page and click on My Library Cart in the upper right hand corner.
- Log into your account (if you haven’t already done so).
- Select items from your cart by clicking or unclicking in the square next to each title.
- Click on Save to List to add the items to an existing list, or create a new list:
To see your Lists, log into or go to “My Account” and click on “My Lists.”
This process is not intuitive. My goal is to make a list. The "My library cart" tab doesn't indicate it is also the way to make a list. Suggest you either rephrase it to be "My Library Cart / Save to list" OR add "Save to list" to the list of options.
Hi Anonymous,You're right, making Lists is not 100% intuitive.Unfortunately, at this point our software vendor doesn't allow adding a 4th tab. And since "My Library Cart" is used for more than making Lists, combining the two or replacing one with the other would also be confusing. But you make a good point, and you can be sure we'll keep your feedback in mind when/if the vendor makes re-design options like your suggestion available.
Greetings,What can I do with My Cart? I thought this would be a way to check out multiple items, like a "shopping cart" on a commercial website. Thanks for running a great library!Christian Crowley
Christian,Thank you for letting us know how much you like the Library!Since you can't check out Library items remotely, your Library cart doesn't work the same way as a commercial website "shopping cart." Instead, the My Cart function allows you to organize and make lists of items (books you want to read, books you've already read, movies you think your mom should see, etc), and then print out or email those lists to yourself and others. You can also place items on hold from your cart. We have heard that a future version of the catalog may allow you to place multiple items on hold at one time from your cart, instead of one at a time. We'll definitely let you know if that happens.
