For the past year, the Petite Goave Library has operated out of a tent |
In January 2011, the Arlington Public Library adopted the Petit Goave Library in Haiti, which was damaged in the devastating January 2010 earthquake.
How can you help us to help them rebuild?
- Make a donation to the American Library Association Haiti Library Relief website
- Join our summer reading program at any Arlington Library starting June 15th. For every student ages 5-18 who reads 10 books over the summer, the Friends of Arlington Public Library will donate 50 cents to restoring the Petite Goave library.
You can read more about the Petit Goave Library in our Library News post from January 12, 2011.
On April 15, 2011, the senate unanimously approved a resolution (introduced by our own Senator Jim Webb) proclaiming April 23 to be “National Adopt a A Library Day”. The measure was inspired by the non-profit organization AdoptALibrary.org, which was founded by Falls Church resident Lynn Gaubatz.
