Elementary school age children are invited to explore the creative interpretation of a book in this fun project celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, at the Shirlington Branch Library on Tuesday, May 17 from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.
I Dream, I Wish, I Promise…
With the help of Arlington-based book artist Sushmita Mazumdar, children will make an origami one-sheet book inspired by the Buddhist prayer wheel, and fill it with their hopes, wishes and promises. Then they can wear their book around their necks or hang it in their rooms.
Participants will also enjoy live Indian classical music performed by an Arlington father and son duo. They will play the sitar and give live demonstrations about the instrument and Indian classical music.
This event is free. Please call 703.228.6545 to register.
