Anyone who thinks kids don’t read definitely hasn’t visited the Arlington Public Library recently.
As of today, over 6,000 Arlington youth have registered for our summer reading program. That breaks last year’s record of 5,311 – and we still have more than a month left! You can keep track of the numbers yourself by checking the Summer Reading Counter on the Library home page.
We’ve been wondering whether this year’s increased enrollment is because the Friends of the Library will donate fifty cents to help rebuild a library in Haiti on behalf of each child that reaches their reading goal this summer. If so, it’s great to see that Arlington not only reads, but also cares.
And it’s not too late to sign up! Younger children have until August 31 and middle & high schoolers have until August 21 to register.
Take a look at some of the fun!
