Arlington Public Library users have two more reasons to celebrate the works of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and her husband, Diego Rivera.
Arlington County sister city Coyoacán, a suburb of Mexico City, has presented the Library with two richly illustrated guidebooks to the museums that preserve the works and history of the two famed icons of modern art. The books are not available in the United States.
Coming in February, Arlington’s Artisphere will become the first and only U.S. venue to exhibit a recently cataloged collection of rare photographs taken by Kahlo throughout her complicated but thrilling life.
The books presented to the Library are now on display on the first floor of Central Library and will become part of the Library’s circulating collection.
