Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the National Button Society with these Fascinating Buttons
On Display at Central Library, May 2013
Buttons are utilitarian objects of our everyday life but they can also be miniature works of art and valuable historical objects.
Collecting buttons can be fun – the collector learns about materials, historical periods and design, manufacturing methods, organizations, and fashion.
The Library even has a collection of books about buttons!
Button clubs help tell the button story about history and materials. Our regional club, the Martha Washington Button Club, in Virginia (email: MarthaWashingtonButtonClub@outlook.com), meets on the 2nd Saturday of the month, at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church – 3810 Meredith Drive, Fairfax VA. Everyone is welcome! Learn more about the National Button Society.
