Sumi-e Style Paintings of the Far East
On display at the Westover Branch Library, July and August 2013
Anne Klein’s exhibit this summer is informed by the elements of Sumi-e which grew in prominence centuries ago in the Far East. The early works of Chinese artists/scholars emphasized the importance and reverence accorded nature.
Anne, a resident of Arlington, paints using the Four Treasures: ink, inkstone, brush and rice paper. She enjoys capturing the majesty, strength and grandeur of trees and mountains that offer a path to the heavens; the beauty and fragility of flowers; and the liveliness and curiosity of birds and animals.
