Artist Statement:
The reason I chose to name my photo “The Star And It’s Mold” is because when I look at my photo, the first thing I see is a star in the center of the photo. I see a lone star with the shape expanding and changing color and size as the image grows towards the corners. I see the star representing a person in society and I see the trees and the lighter, larger star as a mold or society. This photo symbolizes how society can shape a person. I think this photo relates to how people feel and people can relate to the photo because someone might feel that they have to fit the star mold that society has created instead of being themselves and that society is constantly keeping them in one mold, not allowing them to change and grow. I think that people feel like that have to follow the crowd and that they can’t think for themselves because it’s easier to fit into the mold of society.
