Women To Be Celebrated!
For National Women’s History month, the Shirlington Branch Library invited its community members to share stories of the women who have made an impact in their lives.
Though all submissions were truly inspiring, these are our 3 favorites:
Keestra Smith
“Keestra is a talented educator. Her integration of her passion for life, art, and the written word of poetry has inspired the children she works with on a daily basis.”
– Drew E., colleague
Judi Garth
“Judi was a wonderful mother to her handicapped son. She is actively engaged in her community, helping the elderly when necessary and offers help as a substitute leader of her line dancing group. These are just some of many contributions – All unsung but Real!”
– Carol B., neighbor
Pat McArtor
“Pat just celebrated her 90th year! On most Thursdays, she can be found singing with a jazz quartet at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub in DelRay. She has the vigor and positive attitude to influence people half her age.”
– Jack B., friend
Thanks to everyone who participated – and we encourage you to continue to celebrate the women in your life!
