On April 30th, over 150 people celebrated El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) with Arlington Public Library at the Arlington Mill Community Center.
In the morning, attendees were entertained with stories and songs by Mariela Aguilar and Evan Pollack followed by crafts and snacks.
In the afternoon, everybody enjoyed watching a hilarious puppet show!
Children’s Day was originally started in 1925 to bring attention to the importance of children’s well-being.
In 1996, El Dia de Los Ninos/El Dia de Los Libros was envisioned to draw attention to the importance of childhood and children’s literacy.
Today, this event is celebrated at schools and libraries throughout the country on April 30th to promote diverse books and literacy programs.
