Leaving Town? Don't Forget to Freeze Your Holds

Don’t Let Them Get Away…

Three ice cubesYou placed a hold on your favorite author’s new book months ago.

You’re number 3 in the hold list, when you suddenly realize – you’re going out of town and your book is going to be ready for pick-up while you’re away. Argh…

But wait – you just remembered you can Freeze Holds!

How Does Freezing Holds Work?

You can freeze any of your holds that are in the “Holds – Not Ready” section of your account. A frozen hold will continue to move up in the queue. If the hold reaches #1, it will remain there.

To freeze your holds:

  • Login to your account.
  • View your holds.
  • Check the “Freeze Hold” button next to each title
  • Wait for the confirmation screen.

The “Freeze Hold” button does not appear when:

  • Items are listed under the “Holds – Ready” section of your account.
  • The item is “In Transit” to fill your hold.
  • You are first in the queue for that item.

To unfreeze your holds:

  • Uncheck the “Thaw Hold” button next to each title.
  • Wait for the confirmation screen.

Then have a great trip, knowing your holds will be here for you when you return.
