Job Description
The Cataloging Librarian will provide support in resolving complex cataloging and metadata issues across numerous material types, including monographs, serials, and local history collections as required. This position is expected to be able to independently perform original and copy cataloging for monographs and serials following Dewey Classification, RDA and AACR2R. In addition, the Cataloging Librarian will create and/or update holdings information and item records, utilize a variety of cataloging tools and utilities, and perform authority control.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited university or college.
- At least 2 years’ experience providing full level original and copy cataloging of monographs and serials.
- Knowledge of RDA, AACR2, MARC21, LCSH, DDC23 classification and authority work.
Familiarity with OCLC Bibliographic utilities and ILS cataloging modules (experience with III Sierra is a plus). - Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds and push a full book truck.
Work hours: Monday-Friday, up to 19.5 hours per week.
This is a part-time temporary position. Temporary employees who work ten or more hours per week receive sick leave, but do not receive other paid leave or benefits.
