Amy Ordoveza: Paintings

Don’t miss the new paintings on display this month at the  Shirlington Branch Library, by local artist Amy Ordoveza.

Ordoveza has exhibited her paintings and drawings throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the New York Academy of Art and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She teaches art classes for Arlington Adult Education, and is an employee here at the Arlington Public Library.

Experience "The Art of Food" at Central

We received over 50 diverse submissions to The Art of Food exhibit – classic still lifes, funny interpretations, food in action, food being manhandled, art made from food, wearable food and more.

 

Come into Central Library from April 1 -30 and savor the show for yourself – you will find the exhibit on the first and second floors.

The Art of Food exhibit is part of the Library’s Arlington Reads 2010 program.

Claudia Cappelle Paintings on Display at Aurora Hills

The Aurora Hills Library is pleased to be exhibiting the work of abstract painter Claudia Cappelle, from January to February 2010. 

Capelle’s work has been exhibited at the Studio Gallery in Washington DC, the White Canvas Gallery in Richmond, VA, the Art League, Alexandria Virginia, the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA and in various group shows throughout the metro DC area. She studied art at the University of Illinois, American Academy of Art in Chicago, and the Art League in Alexandria, Virginia.

Artist Julian Oteyza Featured at Shirlington

Julian Oteyza, a painter from the Philippines, is the Shirlington Branch Library’s featured artist for the month of November. 

Oteyza paints on circular canvasses and views the circle as an “ancient mystical symbol…representing wholeness.” We are pleased to be exhibiting his work in the spirit of Thanksgiving.

You can find examples of his work on our Flickr page, but it’s even more exciting in person.
