On August 25 around 1:45 p.m., there was an incident that began outside of Central Library. A man ran into the lobby for help. He was followed by the suspect. Library staff called 911. The suspect is now in police custody, and the injured man was taken to the hospital for treatment. The preliminary police investigation indicates this incident was limited to the involved individuals and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Service Restored: Proquest Databases
UPDATE AUGUST 10: All service has been restored.
We are currently experiencing connection issues with our ProQuest databases, resulting in full and partial outages.
The affected products include:
- Ancestry Library Edition
- HeritageQuest
- The Washington Post Historical
- ProQuest Newspapers
- ProQuest Major Daily Newspapers.

The Shed Reopens Saturdays Starting July 16
On July 16, Arlington Public Library will resume Saturday service of the garden tool lending library, The Shed, located at Central Library.
The Shed will be open on Saturdays, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., until October 1, 2022.
The garden tool lending library is available to Arlington residents and property owners, age 18+, with a library card and features hundreds of free tools including hedge shears, pole pruners and pruning saws.

All Library Locations Closed Monday, July 4 in Observance of Independence Day
Arlington County Government offices and services are operating on modified schedules for the July 4th holiday.
Library holds set to expire on Monday, July 4 will be held for pickup until Tuesday, July 5.
HOLIDAY CLOSING: All Library Locations Closed June 19-20 in Honor of Juneteenth
All Library locations will be closed Sunday, June 19 and Monday, June 20, in honor of Juneteenth.
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865, and is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of that event.
Arlington County Government offices and services are operating on modified schedules on Monday, June 20, for the Juneteenth holiday.

Power Out at Aurora Hills Library; Open with No Computer Service
11:10 a.m. update:
Power has been restored and Aurora Hills Library is fully operational again.
Aurora Hills Library is scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 23. Currently, there is no power at Aurora Hills Library due to Sunday's heavy storms.
- Access to the library catalog and your Library Account will be unavailable.
- Public computers and Wi-Fi will not be available.
- Holds pickup and new item checkout will be available.
All other Library locations are operating normally.

Central Library will Open Late on Monday, May 16 due to a Power Outage
Update: 10:02 a.m.: Power has been restored at Central Library and the building is open.
Engineers are working to restore power to Central Library as soon as possible. All other Library locations are open on our regular schedule.
Holds due to be picked up at Central Library today will remain on the shelf until Tuesday, May 17.
