Hello friends, The Arlington County Board has approved a Fiscal

Arlington Public Library branch hours (except for Plaza) will expand
Glencarlyn is the oldest public library in Arlington, and was originally founded to house the book collection of Civil War General and former Missouri Congressman, Samuel Burdett.
1880s - Burdett starts the Glencarlyn neighborhood, creating the first residential community in what is now Arlington County
1914 - Burdett dies, bequeathing his personal library, real estate, and money for the building and maintenance of a library in Glencarlyn.
1922 - The Burdett Library opens, Arlington’s first public library
1963 - The current building is built to replace the original building. Some volumes of the original Burdett collection are placed on display in the new building.
