International Transgender Day of Visibility takes place annually on March 31. The day celebrates the contributions and lives of the trans community everywhere while recognizing the continued discrimination and violence individuals experience.
From March 4 through March 31 at Central Library, Arlington Public Library will partner with Family Diversity Projects to host the "Authentic Selves Exhibit" to celebrate trans and nonbinary people and their families. The exhibit will be on display on the second floor. Portraits will be exhibited in two parts. Stop by Central Library on March 4 for part one and after March 18 for part two.
The exhibit explores the many aspects of gender identity and variance sharing these important, ground-breaking stories. Authentic Selves celebrates a range of views, opinions and experiences that are unique and empowering to trans and nonbinary people.
On March 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., join us for a tabling event with author Joey Morelli of Family Diversity Projects at Central Library to connect with community members about the Authentic Selves book and learn more about the book.
On March 13 at 6:30 p.m., contributors from Authentic Selves: Celebrating Trans and Nonbinary People and Their Families will join the library for an online discussion about their personal experiences, allyship and the significance of Transgender Day of Visibility amid ongoing anti-LGBTQ+ legislation. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
