Call for Donations
The Charlie Clark Center for Local History (CCCLH) seeks community donations of a variety of materials to help document the rich, vibrant history of the Latino community in Arlington County.
REAL, or el Re-Encuentro de Arlington Latinos, is a multi-year collecting initiative born out of a desire to include more documentation of the Latino community’s history in the CCCLH’s Arlington Community Archives. Community archives play a vital role in documenting all voices of a community.
Through this collecting initiative, materials can be captured and preserved to help inform how Arlington’s history is told and remembered in the future.
Between 1990 and 2000, the County’s Hispanic/Latino population increased by 52.7%. Today, the Latino/Hispanic population makes up 15.7% of the population, and Arlington is now home to generations of Hispanic/Latino families.
Understanding the diverse experiences of these individuals, students, families, businesses, officials and community groups is critical to understanding Arlington’s history. With four decades of rich community history, it is vital to begin collecting materials that capture this story.
Who Should Submit
Arlington's history relies on the stories of:
- Individuals
- Businesses
- Cultural Organizations
- Civic Associations
- Churches
- Education, Government and Political Leaders
What to Submit for Donation
Donations may include all materials created in the process of engaging in community, civic, educational or personal pursuits in Arlington County.
Examples of what to submit:
- Meeting Minutes or notes
- Fliers
- Financial Materials
- Publications
- Photographs
- Newsletters
- Personal Papers such as diaries, journals, notes, lists, etc.

Donors should contact the Charlie Clark Center for Local History to make arrangements for donation. Donated materials will become part of the Center for Local History's Arlington Community Archives, and will be available to donors and other researchers. Donations may be digitized to increase access.
The Charlie Clark Center for Local History collects, preserves and shares historical materials that tell the history of Arlington County, its citizens, organizations, businesses and social issues. The CCCLH operates the Research Room at Central Library and the Arlington Community Archives program.
