Planting a Garden, Building our Community
In 2012, Westover Branch Library staff and teachers from Arlington Public School's Teenage Parenting Program (TPP) worked together to create hands-on classes on nutrition, gardening, and science and consumer science for TPP students. The program was made possible thanks to a grant from the Arlington Community Foundation.
The gardens created during that program have since grown in number, with the help from local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Field to Table, Inc., and Master Food Volunteers, and the Master Gardeners of Northern Virginia.
