The Role of Volunteers
The library relies on scores of adult volunteers to help us provide many of our programs and services. Volunteers support the library in many ways:
- Working behind the scenes through circulation support (paging, shelving, holds processing, book donation)
- Working with the public through computer and technology support or leading programs like book clubs, language conversation classes, wellness events and much more
- Supporting large events organized by the library
- Fulfilling entirely new roles, either posted by the library to support a community need or created in response to a volunteer's offer to share particular skills and expertise
We ask prospective volunteers to please review the listed opportunities. Offerings change as volunteers depart or staff identify new needs.
All volunteers in ongoing roles will need to complete a volunteer application, provide a character or professional reference and consent to a criminal background check.
