The Role of Volunteers
We offer both ongoing and intermittent opportunities for teens to help them build strong connections to their community, develop into lifelong library users and learn job skills while earning community service hours. Teen volunteers support the library in many ways:
-
Working behind the scenes through program support (preparing kids' programming kits, Take and Make kits and more)
-
Working with the public through assisting at library programs like Storytime, Kids' Club and many others
- Supporting large events organized by the library
- Fulfilling entirely new roles, either posted by the library to support a community need or created in response to a volunteer's offer to share particular skills and expertise
We ask prospective teen volunteers to please review the listed opportunities. Offerings change as volunteers depart or staff identify new needs.
High School Senior Experience
Teens who are interested in working at the library as part of their senior experience should check with your guidance counselor and the youth services librarian at their closest library location to learn about the application process. Senior Experience volunteers do not need to complete a library volunteer application. Positions are not always available.
