We can’t give medical advice, but Washington Consumers’ Checkbook can help you find a local doctor with a good reputation. We have print issues of Checkbook Magazine at Central, and free access to the searchable website from inside any of our libraries (it’s not available remotely due to licensing restrictions).
What is Consumers’ Checkbook?
Consumers’ Checkbook is an independent, non-profit consumer organization, around since 1974. They rank and rate local businesses and firms, including doctors, dentists and other medical specialists.
How do they determine rank?
Think Consumer Reports meets Yelp. Rank is based on customer surveys, review of complaint files at consumer affairs offices, price checks, surveys of experts, and many other methods. Checkbook even interviews doctors to find out which medical professional they would choose to treat a loved one. “Neighbor-to-Neighbor comments” round out the reviews.
