Have you noticed the knitting display in the glass cases at the back of the Aurora Hills Branch Library Childrens area? These beautiful handcrafts are the work of the Arlington Yarn Crafters.
The Yarn Crafters is a group of volunteers who meet Monday mornings at the Aurora Hills Senior Center. Using donated yarn they knit and crochet for Arlington County charities, including APS elementary schools, the Arlington County Depart of Human Services’ Project Family and Maternity Clinic, the Emergency Winter Shelter and Residential Program, Claridge House of Arlington, Doorways for Women and Children, and Hospice.
In 2007, the Yarn Crafters Team won the Outstanding Volunteer Group Award from Arlington County. Their fans even include the Pope!
Additional volunteers, as well as donations of yarn, are always welcome. Speak to Julie Albers, Aurora Hills Senior Center Coordinator, for more information: 703-228-5722
