On January 7, Don Weber updated us on how the Central Library’s vegetable garden has handled the recent cold weather:
“In spite of about 15F temps on early Wednesday morning, lettuce survived inside the cold frames, which were covered with flannel sheets. Lettuce outside the frames mostly survived, but the outer leaves were frozen. All of the garlic, swiss chard, broccoli, cabbage, collards, and kale survived! So did the herbs such as chives and sage, and strawberries and mint, all of which are perennials.”
Thank you Don!
