That’s how many youth have signed up for Summer Reading 2012!

Register for the program through Aug. 25, and your child or teen will earn a prize for simply reading books.

And for every single youth that reaches their reading goal, the wonderfully generous Friends of the Library will donate a book to The Reading Connection, an Arlington non-profit that promotes literacy-rich environments for at-risk children and families.

How does our Summer Reading registration break down? Here was the official count as of Aug. 10:

• Preschool Signups – 1303
• Elementary Signups – 4705
• Middle/High School Signups – 1128
• Reaching Goal -1793

 

We’re on track to match or beat last year’s record number of 7,371!
