Despite wind, rain and a tornado, we did it!
Last weekend, the Cherrydale Reading and Running group competed in the 9-11 memorial 5K, and Julia (Branch Manager at the Cherrydale Branch Library and driving force behind Reading and Running) reports that, “Everybody did an awesome job.”
Unfortunately the race was so chaotic (and rainy!) that we couldn’t get a picture of the whole team. But we do have some pre- and post-race shots:
If you participated in the race and have photos you’d like to share, email to Julia at jkarell@arlingtonva.us.
On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the group also held their final celebration, with a book discussion centered around Born to Run.
Thanks to everyone who made this program so much fun, and so successful!

My thanks to Julia for organizing this and to all the volunteer coaches from DC Road Runners who got us trained for the race. The nine weeks of training runs got me off the couch, introduced me to some great people, and restored my commitment to exercising regularly. To boot, the book was a fun read!
