The Monarchs Are on Their Way, but They Need Our Help
Milkweed and other nectar-providing plants are being added to the Cemetery Garden at the Glencarlyn Branch Library Community Garden.
According to the VCE Master Gardeners who take care of the Glencarlyn Library Community Garden, new agricultural practices and habitat destruction have resulted in the precipitous decline of the Monarch Butterfly population.
So their babies need more Milkweed in a hurry, and we’re finding ways to help!
There will be three garden beds for the butterflies. The one pictured here has some native wild flowers already in place.
