Del Ray Artisans: Mixed Media

Post Published: October 7, 2014

Art and Story

On Exhibit at Shirlington Branch Library, October – November 2014

The artwork displayed in the Shirlington Branch Library in October and November was created by members of the Del Ray Artisans, a nonprofit arts organization based in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria.

The power of art and story is universal. A good story or other form of literature can spark the imagination and inspire artists to create meaningful work. Behind every piece of art is a story–whether borne of the artists’ experiences or their interpretation of social or cultural events. The works in this show demonstrate a wide assortment of media types and draw from a variety of subject matter, while each piece depicts a story in some way.

This fundraising exhibit is part of Del Ray Artisans’ Gallery Without Walls program, in partnership with the Library.

Want to buy something you see on our walls? Artists contribute 20% of sales made during their exhibit to the Friends of the Arlington County Public Library, to help support Library programming.
