Staff will host tours and demonstrations of maker equipment and tools in The Shop, Arlington Public Library's makerspace. A variety of artist talks, workshops and all-ages activities will be offered throughout the library.
Artist Talks and Presentations
Digital Preservation of Family Photos teaches best practices for storing, scanning and tagging your photographs with metadata for easier searches.
Pricing Your Craft introduces the business fundamentals of crafting and explores bringing your craft to online sales, consignment and craft fairs.
Creating Comics with Procreate is a crash course in the low-cost digital art app led by a comic creator who also shares its applications for other Shop projects.
Workshops
Introduction to Drywall Repair offers a hands-on training on the basics of this common household "to-do" to help manage small projects on your own.
Simple Beaded Earrings make great personalized style accents or gifts. Create one pair to wear and one pair to share with provided materials.
Upcycled Bicycle Belts transform bike parts into unique and functional accessories. Make your own to keep with provided materials!
Decorate Fairy Doors to bring a little whimsy to a tree—or any space—and entice local fairies to pay a visit to your unique miniature creation!
Demonstrations and Activities
Woodturning demonstrations will showcase the craft's techniques and discuss finishing, safety practices, tools and related equipment.
Short Game Sessions are available with multiple modern board games to choose from and a few experienced volunteers to help you get started.
Button Making at the first floor Youth Services desk empowers anyone to create their own wearable button or pin with several designs to choose from!
