| Artist Statement | “Carried Forward” reflects on transformation not as a clean beginning, but as a continuation. The Cecropia moth emerges with everything it needs for adulthood already held within it, stored from its caterpillar stage. Once emerged, it is sustained not by traditional consumption of food—it never eats—but by what was gathered in a previous life stage. It carries forward the energy, structures, and blueprint for new life already formed within it. Its brief existence becomes an act of offering rather than accumulation. This work considers how we move forward using what we’ve already endured, built, and carried—how beginnings are shaped by what came before. |
