Would you like to keep track of your Library reading and viewing? Our new catalog system (coming in mid-February) will allow you to create and update your own lists, from the convenience of your own Library account.
You’ll be able to create and save lists of books you want to read, DVDs you want to watch, books you’ve read, movies you’ve watched, titles you want to recommend to others, or anything else you can think of.
How can you use lists?
- Save them in your account, then email them to yourself or a friend
- Share them with a bookgroup
- Save titles for a homework assignment
- Sort your lists by Title, Author or Date Added
- Place holds on items on your lists
- Lists can be renamed at any time, and you can add and delete items at any time
Stay tuned for more updates about our new system, and how it will improve your Library experience, on our homepage, Twitter and Facebook.

Great idea! I've always wanted a way to hang on to a list of reading suggestions without placing holds on all of them – I can only read so much at a time!

I'm really pleased to read about this feature! Will patrons be able to add private comments to individual items on their lists? For example, I currently use Library Thing to track my reading, and I use their private comments field to note where I heard/read about a specific book – i.e. "Wash Post Book Review 1/30/11", "Recommended by Aunt Sue", etc.
The Librarians says
@Jenn — Glad you are pleased! Unfortunately, the list feature does not support private comments. You can give your lists creative names (like "Recommended by Aunt Sue"), but you can't add comments on each title.

When exactly is Mid-February? Feb 15th?
The Librarians says
Hey S – Almost – we begin transition to the new catalog on Sunday, Feb. 13, and expect that it may take the whole week. You can read more about the transition in our previous news post about how the migration will affect library services.

In order to streamline the conversation, we've moved comments/question on the new catalog system and transition to the Library Catalog Transition FAQ.
