We always love to see folks lined up to get inside the Library. And we hate to keep them waiting.
That’s why we’re so grateful for everyone who stuck it out outside as we waited for power inside on Saturday at Central.
As you may have heard, Dominion Power planned a disruption for the Ballston-Virginia Square area including Central. Unfortunately the time frame we were given was a bit off regarding the restoration of electricity. And these days, you can’t run a library without the stuff.
Finally power came back and Central’s doors did open for the day–and stayed that way until 7 p.m. thanks to some very dedicated staff.
Needless to say, we’re grateful for your patience. Arlington has the best public library customers in the world.
Oh, and if you didn’t get inside Central on Saturday, don’t worry about any holds. They’ll stay on the shelves an extra day.

I knew it wasn’t the library’s fault because it was still dark inside when I showed up. The wait was worth it. Thanks for staying open later. Best library in the metro area and thanks for the explanation.
