Forward with Arlington's History: A Mid-Term Task Force Report

Published: September 14, 2015

The Arlington History Task Force, made up of County staff and citizen volunteers, continues to map out the best strategy for preserving our history. local history 2 blue background

The new Mid-Term Report [pdf] toward a 5-year plan lays out the group’s ideas for capturing, digitally storing and sharing both official documents and those elements of personal stories that will have essential value to future generations.

The goal is to be ready for Arlington’s official centennial as a County in 2020.

A final Task Force report will be issued this coming January so please take a look and let us know what you think in the comments section below. Thanks.

Appreciated your posting this detailed description of the process and problems associated with acquiring, digitizing, and making available historical materials that once gone are gone forever. Would love to see more media attention given to this topic. Suspect that a photo of the stacks of stuff would be pretty dramatic.
