Lost in Wonderland…
A Wonderful Night
The costumes were delightful, inventive and hilarious. The crowd ate, drank, danced and mingled. And the band was hot as the Clarendon Ballroom transformed into Alice’s Wonderland for a few magical hours for the third Lit Up Ball last Saturday night.
In the words of one guest, it was a perfect tribute to Alice on her 150th (plus a little) birthday, and a really fun community event.

Winners of the costume contest were Rebecca as the White Rabbit’s house, and John as a Steampunk Mad Hatter.
Awesome-costume honorable mentions went to Colton (Bill), Sarah (Dodo), the Walrus and the Carpenter, Joni (Red Queen), Courtney (Mad Hatter), Carla (Red Queen), Erin (Eat Me box), Evelyn and Alex (Queen and Hatter pair), Gretchen (Mad Hatter), and Jess (Red Queen). But there were so many fantastic costume ideas and touches, it was honestly hard to leave anyone out….
The Friends of the Arlington Public Library, the organization which supports Library programming such as storytime, Summer Reading and the Lit Up Ball, were also on hand to celebrate, and were delighted with the event.
Thanks to Library staff, members of the Friends, and volunteers from Community Volunteer Network and Leadership Arlington, all of whom made the night run so smoothly.
And special thanks to One More Page Books‘ Rebecca Speas – who acted as our Mistress of Ceremonies – and Lelia Nebeker – who ably assisted with the gift basket raffle.
