Kitchen Series
On exhibit at Central Library, September – October 2017
Artist Statement:
I paint to create form, line, color, and space in light. I prefer simple subjects, good contrast and often choose still-life subjects found in my kitchen or on my bookshelves. Land and cityscapes intrigue me as I try to capture the harmony of light and color in the compositions. The figure is also a great subject. Looking for the gesture in a young girl or a cherry blossom tree framing the Jefferson Memorial makes painting through direct observation a passion.
My “Kitchen Series” came about when the weather was cold and the need to paint was there.
