2026 Read-for-a-Cause Organization: AFAC

The Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) is the 2026 read-for-a-cause organization partnering with the Friends of the Arlington Public Library (FOAL) and the Library for Summer Reading.

For every person who completes the 2026 Summer Reading challenge, FOAL will donate $1 to AFAC.

AFAC provides our neighbors in need with dignified access to free, supplemental groceries.

For every person who completes the 2026 Summer Reading challenge, the Friends of the Arlington Public Library (FOAL) will donate $1 to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC).

Read for 30 Days to Complete Summer Reading

Completion prizes for all ages:

  • Free book
  • Two free Washington Nationals baseball tickets, while supplies last.
  • $1 donation to the 2026 read-for-a-cause organization partnering with FOAL.

How to Become a Super Reader

Not ready to be done with Summer Reading once you’ve completed the Challenge?

Read for an extra 30 days to become a Super Reader! Super Readers are entered into a weekly prize drawing from July 11 - Sept. 5.

Super Reader Prizes

  • Choose from a selection of plantable flower or herb pots.
  • Get your own Super Reader certificate.
  • Your name will be entered into drawings for your chance to win a $100 visa gift card or free tickets from the Washington Mystics or the Washington Spirit.
