Paws-to-Read had Some Unusual Reading Partners This Week!
Mocha, Apache and Copper, three very soft and cuddly rabbits from the Arlington Career Center’s Animal Science Program, took turns reading with kids at the Columbia Pike Branch Library on Tuesday and Thursday.

Librarian Desiree with Apache and a young reader.

Animal Science Program intern Becca with Copper and a young reader.
Our regular Paws-to-Read program is on hiatus for the month of August. So librarian Desiree decided to invite the rabbits to the Library partly because she knew that several Muslim families are unable to participate in Paws-to-Read, since practicing Muslims discourage touching dogs.
The Animal Science Program offers classes in Advanced Animal Science and Technical Animal Science.
We hope to see the Reading Rabbits again – and maybe other new furry friends as well!
Why don’t they use cats?!
Because rabbits are cuter and friendlier. ==>:0)
