How do I pay my fines?

At this time, fines cannot be paid in person paid at the Library. Make payments using a credit card – Log into your Library account and go to Fines and Messages. Mail payment by check or money order – Make payable to Treasurer of Arlington County and include library card number. Mail to: Central Library, Attention: Circulation, 1015 N. Quincy St, Arlington, VA 22201 Daily library overdue fees were eliminated in the FY21 Arlington County Budget. No new daily overdue fees will accrue after July 1, 2020. Overdue fees of $ .30 per day, with a maximum overdue fee of $9.00 per item, charged before July 1, 2020 remain due on library accounts. Lost material fees and other service fees still apply.

I think my Library card is expired. How do I renew it?

The Library has automatically extended active library cards since January 2020. Please try logging in to your account. If you still have trouble, please contact us.

I don’t remember my Library card PIN/Password. How can I reset it?

You can reset your password in the Library catalog.

If you do not get a password reset email within 5 minutes, please contact us during open hours.

How can I find my library card number?

Find your library card number if you know your username and password:

  • Option 1 – Download the Library App and add your account using your username and password. The App provides a digital Library card with your card number, which can be used to check items out.
  • Option 2 – Log into your Library Account with your username and password, and your library card number is under Account Settings.

Find your library card number if you don’t know your username:

  • Search your inbox for emails from sender “notices@library-arlingtonva.us.” These emails will show your card number.

If none of these options work, please contact us.

I have never had a Library card. How do I get one?

Please apply for a library card online. Once you have successfully completed the online application process, you will be given a Library Card Number. Please make sure to write the number down for your records.

Why are returned items still on my account?

For safety reasons, we quarantine returned material for at least 24 hours. If over 7 days have passed since you returned your library items and they remain on your account, please use this form to tell us which items you returned, and we’ll update your account.

Help with OverDrive eBooks and eAudio

I recently upgraded the iOs on my iPhone/iPad and am having trouble with OverDrive eBooks.

Restart your device. If this does not work, you may need to uninstall then reinstall OverDrive’s mobile app. This will clear your bookshelf, history, and app settings. You can save the list of titles in your history by going to Home Menu > History > Edit. Tap Select all, then Share. From there, you can email the list wherever you like. Read more

I got a new library card and need to transfer my OverDrive eHolds

Please contact OverDrive support and report an issue with “Account – Replaced Card”. Provide your email and current library card number (and your old library card number if you have it.) You can expect a response within 24 hours after submitting your request to OverDrive.
