As of 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23, access has been restored to the library catalog, patron accounts and the eCollection, including OverDrive and Libby.
If you have related questions about your account, or accessing the eCollection, please contact the Library by phone, live chat or text, so that we can help you in person.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and thank you for your patience while we worked to solve this issue.
Joyce Battle says
I now have access to my account online, and checked-out materials are displayed as usual. However, titles on hold are not displayed; instead this error message appears:
“JSON Encoding failed 5 – Malformed UTF-8 characters, possibly incorrectly encoded.”
Is this an individual account problem, or a remaining system problem?
L Ruparel says
Same here. And I’m not aware that I lost access to my account before.
Web Editor says
This appears to be a new but unrelated issue, having to do with titles in your account that contain diacritics. We’re working with our catalog vendor to fix it as quickly as possible.
Jackie Borgel says
I can’t access my account. Do I need to change my password?
Web Editor says
Jackie, It’s not you, it’s us – the system is down again: https://library.arlingtonva.us/2020/09/28/alert-account-access-and-some-ecollection-services-unavailable-due-to-system-issue/
Logging into patron accounts in the library catalog, OverDrive and the Libby app are all currently affected. We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope to have everything back as soon as possible.
