Travel through Latin America
On exhibit at the Connection: Crystal City from September - November, 2017
Artist Statement:
For me, painting and travel are strongly linked. I have made many trips to Latin America. I have vivid memories that have formed the basis for these paintings. My personal experiences and emotions are a part of my work.
While I have been to Mexico a number of times in the last forty plus years, I focused my painting there on lovely Guanajuato where I attended an art workshop a few years ago. In the Caribbean, I found Havana Cuba to have many interesting scenes to paint. The Andean indigenous love of color, as shown in “Market Day in Cuenca Ecuador”, appeals to me. Most recently, I traveled to Argentina and Chile, where the Andes are among the most spectacular peaks in the world. “In the Heart of Patagonia” is very special for me.
My work is regularly accepted for juried shows at the Arlington Artists Alliance, Art League of Alexandria, Arts Club of Washington, and McLean Art Society. I show continuously at the Gallery Underground in Crystal City.
